What is Furtados?

Furtados is a music retail store headquartered in Mumbai. They have stores in all parts of the country. They also have an e-commerce website which attracts a lot of traffic.

Why this re-design?

As good as their in-store service is, the design of their website and especially the mobile web-app really doesn’t hit the mark. I decided to focus specifically on the mobile redesign since that’s the way most people interact with the web these days.

Pain Points

Confused and Cluttered UI

The UI feels extremely mismanaged and all over the place. There’s a lack of white space. Visual hierarchy needs to be improved massively.

Improper categorization

The organisation of products into different categories hasn’t been done efficiently making it difficult for the users to browse through products and find the exact thing they’re looking for.

Poor advertisement of their music school

Furtados also run their own music school which is reputed as one of the best in the country. But their advertisement for the same on the website is done quite poorly wherein most users don’t even notice it.

The Re-design

Homepage

Cleaned up the home page by making the search bar more prominent, adding more white space between elements giving them some breathing space. Added a bottom navigation bar to make things more accessible

New Product Page

Changed the product page by making the details of the product more prominent. Made the review and rating section more visible which makes it easier for the user to decide.

Improved Sort and Filter functions

I’m of the opinion that the sort and filter functions on any e-commerce platform need to be up to the mark to make it easy for the customer to find the right thing in the least amount of time. Improved both those by adding more options to sort through the products.

Improved Checkout and Payment process

Improved the checkout and payment process by making the saving addresses appear with better details and easier editing options. Improved payment by having previous payment methods already saved.
